TSX ETF Report - Q2 2022

Putting the Brakes on Volatility

With the world’s Central banks’ focus on using interest rates to combat headline inflation, Canadians are evaluating the personal impact of rising interest, inflation rates and the effect that the volatility is having on their investment portfolios. According to Statistics Canada, the May 2022 Canadian consumer price index (CPI) increased to 7.7% year over year which is an increase of 0.9% over the April 2022 CPI of 6.8%1. However it should be noted that while the 0.9% increase is significant, the March 2022 CPI had jumped one full percentage point over the February 2022 CPI making it the largest increase in the Canadian CPI since January 19911.
