INVESTOR INSIGHTS REPORT (January)

The following are some key observations of the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange markets:

1. NEGATIVE START TO 2022

Every market cap segment was negative in January, with Large Cap down an average -2%, Mid Cap at -1%, Small Cap down -4% and Micro Cap down -5%.

2. HIGH ENERGY IN JANUARY

After a phenomenal 2021, the Oil & Gas sector is off to a booming start to 2022, as the top performing sector in 3 out of 4 market cap segments: +16% in Large Cap, +25% in Mid Cap and +21% in Micro Cap. In Small Cap, the only sector it wasn’t #1, Oil & Gas finished in 2nd spot with +6%.

3. S&P/TSX ENERGY INDEX #1 IN JANUARY

With the exceptional performance of the Oil & Gas sector in January, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the S&P/TSX Energy Index as the best performing index, with a gain of +18% (14% higher than the 2nd best perfroming Index).

4. VOLUME AND VALU TRADED DOWN IN JANUARY

Total trading volume and value on the TSX Venture in January 2022 was down over 50% compared to January 2021, while trading volume and value on the TSX was down by 15%.
